Church in rural areas

Crucial questions are posed by the urgent financial, structural, and demographic challenges facing, especially, rural areas with weak infrastructure. Questions such as: How can we manage to be a vital church even in situations of decline? What are core skills of church workers (paid and unpaid) in rural areas? Are buildings a burden or a treasure? How can the church carry out its missionary task in rural areas?

While working on these issues, our inter-disciplinary, international, and ecumenical contacts have proven to be very helpful. The IEEG here sees itself as communicator of such „alien“ perspectives, and uses them as a basis for developing new approaches with regard to both structures and contents.
