The „EKD-Zentrum für Mission in der Region“ („Centre for Mission in Region“) was founded in the course of the reform process of the Evangelical Church in Germany in 2009. The Centre is located in Dortmund and Stuttgart, and it works in close cooperation with the IEEG.

The Centre reflects on the missionary challenges of regions and, thus, of all church agencies which complement parochial ministry increasingly often. In conferences, professional discussions, academic assistance of exemplary regions, and in publications, the Centre works on these issues.

The IEEG assists the work of the Centre academically and and puts particular emphasis on strongly de-churched and peripheral rural regions.
